Who needs yet another Vampire TV show? Apparently the American public does, and rightly so after the premature end of CBS’s “Moonlight.”

HBO’s “True Blood” is based on the wildly popular series of books by Charlaine Harris. The central character, ‘Sookie Stackhouse’ is played in the show by Anna Paquin, and her vampire love-interest, ‘Bill Compton’, is played by Stephen Moyer.

The series, set in the fictional Louisiana town of Bon Temps, premiered in the U.S.A. on September 7th 2008 yet has already been renewed for a second season!

Other main cast characters are: Jason Stackhouse played by Ryan Kwanten, Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley) , Sam Merlotte (Sam Tramell), Arlene Fowler (Carrie Preston) Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard)

The show features a lot of atmospheric music, featuring many up and coming groups and singers, and many have a bluesy, southern feel, with a touch of country thrown in. My favorite track so far is “Lake Charles” by Lucinda Williams.

A True Blood Soundtrack album is promised soon, but for now you can listen to all the music played in this captivating show by clicking
